Currently in August

Oh boy! I am so excited I finally got off my butt and am joining in Oh Boy 4th Grade's monthly Currently linky party! I see it all the time and love it, but I have never linked up. There's a first time for everything! And I am sure this won't be my last time either.

I can't believe it's August already... and this August for me is so different from a year ago when I didn't have a job and desperately wanted one. Wow, I would have put way different responses on these last year. But now is now! And it is good! And all I want is to get into my classroom and get started!

This year I have also decided that I will be doing Oh Boy 4th Grade's Currently for Your Classroom with my students. You see, we are a Leader in Me school, and I thought Currently would be a perfect addition for their data notebooks. How fun to have a year's worth of responses to see how they changed! Plus, you never know when something like this might spark a great writing idea! I already have them printed and ready to be copied for my new sweeties whom I haven't even met yet!

So, here's to setting up classroom, finding the rug of my dreams, and drowning myself in chocolate!

  1. What kinds of resale shops have you gone to?! I'm always on the lookout for some fantastic stores. Our cat also meows ALL. THE. TIME. but it's because he's talking to us... he'll hold conversations with us! As for your B2S must haves... pens are on my list, too! I cannot go anywhere at all without a fantastic pen. And chocolate?? SMART.

I also purchased Farley's Currently for the Classroom when she first came out with it and I absolutely love it. What a great way to get students reflecting.

    1. Plato's Closet is our new favorite resale shop. It's huge and has so many racks of jeans... designer ones! Little does everyone know that chocolate is on my "always" list, not just Currently. LOL! And good to know about the classroom version. I am excited to start using it!

  2. Just order pizza for dinner - one less thing you need to worry about! Of course pens are on my list too! That's such a "teacher thing!"

  4. I totally agree...I go through phases of having a stocked house of food and then nothing. It's not like I don't have plenty of free time to go to the store! haha. Also, every year I am always so anxious to get in my room to start organizing/setting up. Those first couple days of meetings are torture when all you want to do is set-up!

  8. Oh that's a good idea to incorporate currently in to the classroom. What are data notebooks? Just recently I was trying to find a rug for my house. It is hard! Even stores like Target and TJ Maxx don't really have the best selection. I ended up looking online.

    1. Data notebooks are the Leader in Me's way of putting students in charge of their progress. It's up to you what you put in them, but we have students make and track goals, chart reading levels, math facts speed, benchmark tests, and anything else we feel is appropriate (like the Currently). The thought is to be able to show the students that they are making progress and helps keep them accountable.
